Secrets, Wine + Giveaway

I don't know if I've told you this before (I probably have), but I'm terrible at keeping secrets. Particularly secrets regarding Christmas presents and particularly those for Tom. It was easier when we weren't married. I could hide them away from his view, we didn't share a bank account so he didn't know where I was shopping--wait, no, I still ruined his presents then too.

It used to be that we would be having a conversation and I would give it away in an entirely obvious fashion. For example, one time I bought him a black leather Coach wallet, and I was pretty proud of myself. We went shopping together, and about 30 seconds after looking at wallets I said "I got you the best Christmas present!"

Yeah, that's what I do. My excitement just wells up inside me and I can't help but blurt something out that completely gives it away. This year I was really good about not talking about gifts right after talking about similar items (Go Amy...finally). I was not so good; however, at hiding things. Last week I took gifts out of a shopping bag to show Tom what I bought for Carter, and one of his presents half fell out of the bag...and then another. Then I left a receipt on the table, and it doesn't help that I always tell him where I'm going shopping. I'm just crossing my fingers that he'll forget by the 25th.

On to other things. While my sister and I were doing a DIY project for the blog, we decided wine was a necessary component. I got side tracked while DIYing and took some wine photos. I thought they were pretty fun considering I know nothing about photography and I barely know how to use my camera.

And now for the third random thing in this post...who wants a $100 Walmart gift card? Do you know what exciting things you can do with a Walmart gift card? I do. Some DVDs, maybe an awesome/lame season of some show I watched in high school, a new book, nail polish, and a  bottle of wine (if you live near one of those cool Walmarts with wine). Oh and junior mints. Junior mints are good. Everything I just mentioned is my ideal weekend night. Cheap date? Yes...(for now).

Oh and here's a quick Carter update: We've been sitting on the couch eating Caesar croutons and reading books, while I serenade him with songs from his new keyboard book.

These are cool pictures.
I love the clouds in the wine glasses.

And I'm horrible. I try to keep a secret from Brian and he instantly knows.
I could think I am so clever and he will still figure it out!
Dammit!

I am doing the same thing with my husbands presents this year! I bought him some house slippers and left the box in our closet with the info showing in plain sight (what kind of shoe, size, color). Luckily he is one of the least observant people I know so there's a chance he hasn't figured anything out.

Nice pics with the wine glasses!

Don't worry, Amy. You are definitely not alone. I am the worst present spoiler! I'm right there with you in that my excitement overwhelms me and I just end up blurting it out! Thank goodness this year the hubby and I just ended up buying "family gifts" or else I'm sure I would have spilled the beans on something! Ha!

Well, I'm not telling you any of MY secrets anymore! lol...Funny story: My daughter, who was about 4 that Christmas, said,"I know that Dad's getting you a robe from Victoria's Secret! Ooops!!" and she quickly clapped her hand over her mouth like she knew she had spilled the beans. Well, Christmas morning comes and I keep looking for a box that looks like it might have a robe from Vickie's. Nope. Not there. So I said, "So where's my robe from Victoria's Secret?" And my husband looked surprised, and my daughter gave me this innocent look, like "Who, me?" We still laugh over that one, now that she's 26!
